About Us

Peanut Butter & Jam Sessions brings families together for musical encounters that provide a friendly, educational, and enjoyable introduction to classical music. Designed for ages two to six, these interactive concerts will touch, teach, and enrich your child’s life.

During PB&J performances, children are invited to sit on the floor, close to the performers, allowing them to be part of the action. To enhance the experience for young children, a music educator hosts each concert, leading movement, dances, beat patterns, songs, and Q&A. At the end of the concert, families are invited to meet the performers and get an up-close introduction to their instruments.

The Peanut Butter & Jam Sessions program is presented by Linton Chamber Music and has been around for over two decades. This unique early childhood music program includes the Main Series Concerts, Free Library and Community Concerts, and virtual Musical Mornings. Special in-school programming is provided in Avondale elementary schools and through a new partnership with Cincinnati Preschool Promise.

Music enhances children’s lives. We can’t wait to show you how!

Main Series Concerts

Usually on Saturday mornings, our Main Series Concerts come to a location in your neighborhood! Our team of professional musicians, along with one of our music educators leads the way as your child gets one of their earliest experiences with classical music.

Tickets to this program are $6 for everyone 2 years and up (or 4/$20). And thanks to our friends at Graeter’s, everyone goes home with a free cookie!

Library and Community Concerts

Our FREE Library and Community Concerts take place on weekday mornings and evenings, usually in partnership with a story time, literacy night, or other community activity. Children get the same great programming with our cohort of classical musicians and music education specialist.

Because these concerts are free, they are a great way to try our programming. You’ll love your child’s reaction to a PB&J concert!

Outdoor Musical Adventures

All of our programs are casual, but with our outdoor programming, it’s even more so. Children move from large groups to small groups as they get up close and personal with the musicians. Because you are outside and in smaller groups, this is a very safe, casual and easy way to introduce your child to our program.

Virtual Musical Mornings

Due to the pandemic, we had to rethink how to engage families. Our virtual Musical Mornings programmimg was born, and we aren’t looking back! For each of our seasons, we offer related, supplemental programming on our Facebook page and YouTube channel. Watch with your child in the weeks leading up to the concert to enhance their experience or watch after the concert to relive the fun!

Our Outdoor Musical Adventures are about 60 minutes.

How much does each session cost?

Updated for winter and spring!
We are very pleased to have received some special Covid-Era funding, and we are thrilled to be able to offer all our winter AND spring concerts in 2022 as a free gift to the community!

Our dream is to make free concerts a reality long term. If you would like to help make that happen, please contact us!

Tickets

Do I have to buy tickets ahead of time for a specific date/time?

For flexibility, tickets for our Main Series concerts are always available at the door. We accept cash, check (payable to Linton Chamber Music), or credit cards (Visa/MC/AMEX/Discover).

If you plan to use a credit card, while not required, we do recommend purchasing in advance online. It will save time at the door and make it easier to juggle things with your little in tow. While you will need to select a specific PB&J performance date/time, remember, if something comes up, just email us and let us know. We will be happy to exchange your tickets for a future event!

Tickets

Do you offer free concerts?

Indeed! Our Community and Library concerts, Outdoor Musical Adventures, and virtual Musical Mornings are offered for free!

How do I reserve my seat?

No reservations required!

May I bring an older or younger child along?

Absolutely! While PB&J activities and concepts are presented to connect with 2 – 6 year-olds, older and young children as well as adults still enjoy the music and the content as well. PB&J is designed for the entire family to enjoy music together.

Where are the concerts held?

North, south, east and west, we have a concert in a neighborhood near you! Our performances take place in community centers, libraries, churches (although we are not affiliated with or connected to any specific religious organization), and arts centers. For a complete list of venues, click here!

Are the venues wheelchair-accessible?

We are committed to providing fully-accessible programming. If on the off chance a specific venue is NOT accessible, it will be noted. Every PB&J program is offered multiple times at a variety of fully-accessible venues, so be sure to choose a location that works best for you and your family. ♿

Will you come to my school/party/event?

PB&J makes it a priority to build long-term relationships throughout the community. Unfortunately, this greatly limits our ability to do single, private events. You are always encouraged to bring your school, party or event to one of our concerts! Contact us, and we will offer a special discounted rate for your group!

If you are interested in becoming a community partner venue, please also contact us! We are always looking to broaden the reach of our program!
